Four-day weekends can really have a magical effect on your productivity, and I’ve decided every weekend should be a four-day weekend, and we can all start hating Tuesdays instead of Mondays.
This weekend jump-started my new exercise routine, which is to exercise, period. I actually started on Thursday with a purposely harsh first day of cardio– jumping on the trampoline with my sisters, running up and down the steep hill in our yard until got a cramp, and running (and walking) 3 miles. With a couple rounds of sit-ups, just for fun. I went into work on Friday sore and slow-moving and was made fun of for being the youngest and wimpiest of everyone in the office.
Then Friday I did some drinkin’, then Saturday I did some chillin’. I was just sitting around Saturday night at home, watching HGTV, dog-sitting (be jealous of my social calendar), when I decided to get crafty. I got out a giant t-shirt that I never wear and not only made a pillow out of it, but a necklace, too.
The ugly-but-cute throw pillow (with a Dubble Bubble image, unintentionally the shape of a piece of gum):
And the childhood bunny that was sacrificed to stuff the pillow:
Look at it clutching its carrot in terror.
Then I decided I couldn’t let the rest of the shirt material go to waste, so I made a necklace following and deviating slightly from Cailen Ascher‘s instructions to make a t-shirt necklace.
Stretching the strips was oddly satisfying:
The finished (and actually wear-out-in-publicable) product:
Guess what everybody’s getting for Christmas this year? Throw pillows and necklaces. Guys, that includes you, too. You are freakin’ welcome.
Finally, John came and dog-sat with me yesterday, and he was in the creative spirit, too. SO WE MADE FOURTH OF JULY SUGAR COOKIES.
If I had a stupid iPhone like everybody else, these pictures would be bigger, but just make sure you appreciate my red, white, and blue-striped cookie.
The point is, weekends should be extended, because shit gets done. My outfits are cuter (I bought new shoes), my laundry is done (four loads), and I am really full (going to go deep fry some dough now, thx).
Happy Fourth of July!
I also published my second article with Bmore Media last week. Check it out if you haven’t already due to my incessant sharing.

Looking forward to my Christmas present, Cass!! (Sorry, bunnies)
ah!! Crafty Cassie! I love your necklace! Jersey is the best. Wanna have a crafty day sometime this summer? I’m shortly going to have a sewing room and two machines!
That would be OH-so-fun! Good luck with moving this weekend. I can’t wait to see your new digs.
I’ll take a throw pillow. And a necklace. Srsly.
Miss you, dear
