At the risk of going another week-plus without blogging (a past habit of mine that at one point spiraled out of control… like a crack addiction!), I thought I’d pop in and share a few of my favorite random things from the past several days.
Rachel posted these photos from a few weeks ago. Yes, they’re of me, and no, she didn’t post any of the TWO of us. But I thought these were pretty neat looking:

This Beatles flow chart makes writing one of the greatest pop/rock songs of all time seem like a cinch:
I came across pet photographer Seth Casteel’s site featuring incredible shots of dogs underwater. His book, appropriately titled Underwater Dogs, doesn’t come out until October, but there’s this lovely little thing called pre-order, and I’m seriously considering it. How amazing are they?

And speaking of dogs, I read the novel The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein last week, and I highly recommend it. It’s told from the perspective of a dog named Enzo, who is funny AND smart. That premise alone should be reason enough for you to check it out for yourself. I don’t know how you couldn’t be a dog person. I just don’t.
Finally, John’s band had a show downtown Friday night, and it was a hell of a set. A singer recently joined the line-up, and she makes a pretty kick-ass addition to the band. The cluster of dudes lined up in front of the stage seemed to agree. Check out John Mancini Band‘s cover of Grace Potter & the Nocturnals’ “Paris (Ooh La La)” recorded by yours truly:
Hopefully there will be lengthier posts in the near future. And there will definitely be a Karaoke Blog Ring of Death post this week. (Excitement.) Stay tuned!

ROFL about the Hey Jude flow chart. NA!!! Have a great week!
NA!!! Hahah, you too!
What a great collection of lovely, random things! Love the flow chart and the under-water dogs
Thanks so much for your comment today – I totally know how you feel about the travel buddy thing. As I mentioned there, definitely keep me posted on your travels when they do come together – I’d love to hear how it goes!
Thank you! I will definitely keep you and the bloggy world posted. Hopefully those travel days come sooner than later.
Love those two pictures, that’s a super photogenic sidewalk. Are those fo realz flowers blooming in those trees? So pretty. Also, I feel like if I read that book, I would be hearing my idea of a dog’s voice (which is like…a middle aged man talking in a slightly “arfy” way) narrating the whole thing. And that would be awesome.
They are indeed bloomy flower trees! Cherry blossoms. I think they’ve all fallen out and turned into regular trees by now, but they’re sooo gorgeous while they last.
And I like your dog narrator. I imagine the middle-aged arfy man occasionally getting distracted by squirrels and highly enjoying saying the word “rough,” except it would be “ruff.” I imagine he would laugh.
I love the tones in the photographs of you. So classy.
Also I’m really looking forward to the ring of death. Sounds right up my alley. (Wait, what?)
Classy Cassie, they always say! Or gassy Cassie. Sometimes that.
The last part of your comment made me snort. When I put up the post tomorrow-ish, I’ll link back to the KROD site– you should join in! So much fun and embarrassment!
First of all, I need to carry that chart with me every time I get in the car. I always get so confused when singing Hey Jude along with the radio. I get the lines so mixed up. I’ve also been wanting to read The Art of Racing in the Rain. I think the idea of books being told from a dog’s perspective is interesting, because you get to see how different people interpret a dog’s perspective. I think I already have it on my Goodreads to-read list, too.
I LOVE the pictures of you. So romantic and spring-y!
