  1. Yay! I LOVED this post. I was obsessed with the O.C growing up; to the point that I occasionally thought the characters were my real life friends…

And I’m going to move to California too. Every time I visit, it feels like home. I’m so glad it turned out to be everything you hoped it would :)

  2. I have to email a link to this to my blogging partner, who was in love with The OC. We’ve covered two episodes of it on our site, and she has it on her “to-do” list to keep recapping all the episodes.

It’s a lovely story and incredible pictures. Man, now I want to go to LA too…

  3. What a great post! Well done Rachel for taking the leap!

  4. I drove from Chicago to Los Angeles when I moved there a few years ago. I wish I stopped to take as many beautiful pictures as Rachel did. Even after spending two years in LA, I came back to Chicago with surprisingly few pictures. Except of palm trees. I had a weird obsession with taking pictures of those.

I’m so glad Rachel got to experience Cinespia’s movie in the cemetery — it was my favorite thing to do in LA.

    • I loooove Cinespia! I went to several of their screenings this past summer…it’s the perfect way to spend an evening, and I never have to worry about the weather, because it’s always nice here!

  5. Such a great post…I live in LA and I guess I take so much of it for granted! So glad that you love it out here. Your story is very inspiring.

    • Thank you, Ameena! It’s easy to take a place for granted, especially if you’ve been in that place a long time. I definitely took Minnesota for granted when I moved there, and one of my goals is to never stop seeing LA with fresh eyes. =]

I could go on and on… I love, love, loved this post. It was so relaxing, and fun to read… You are my Seth Cohan. Really, I will be daydreaming of Cali all day long…
I’ve been a reader of Rachel’s for quite some time, but this post takes the cake.
Cassie & Rachel, keep up the great work! :)
    XO

PS – Please tell me you tweeted this link to Seth (or whatever his name is in real life LOL)… I’m sure he’d really appreciate that all this is because of him…:)

  7. Thanks for your kind words, everyone, and thanks Cassie for letting me do this guest post! I had so much fun writing it…it was great to hash out my thoughts about moving and what led me to where I am today.

My couch is always open for anyone who wants to come fall in love with California as much as I have! I’m told I make a damn good tour guide…=]
