I just got an SLR this week! Also, I’m jealous of that particular version of Sometimes A Great Notion…the design of it looks way cooler than the version I have haha. The photo of the kid in the stripes is FANTASTIC

    • You must be having so much fun right now. Isn’t it glorious? I can’t wait to see more of your pickchasss. :)

  2. Great shots Cassie. I have always wanted to get into photography, but like you mentioned, it can be very intimidating. Also, cameras are expensive, yo!

    • No kidding. I was all prepared to drop a bunch of money… and then was completely surprised to get this as a Christmas gift. So I was lucky – now I can spend that money on a fancy lens! Totally worth the investment if you do it. And I suggest you do it!

  3. I just got a Canon and like you, I’m obsessed with photographing everything. Great photos!

  4. I love monthly photo wrap-ups, and I love food photography. You go girl!

And I love that red lipstick.

    • Thanks! Red lipstick just makes me feel instantly more confident. It’s a great shade.

I’ll be sure to take some more food photos. :)

I’m really pumped to have made it here via 20sb because your blog and those shots in this post are kind of awesome! I really liked that 5th shot and it took me a second to find all three :) Can’t wait to see your next batch and I’m looking to pick up a DSLR myself so I might be asking you lots of questions haha!

    • Thanks for stopping by! You should absolutely get a DSLR. I recommend my Nikon D3200… great for beginners.

  6. Great shots! I love the tomato, the map and the drawing hands reflected in the table.

    • Thanks! I was really pleased with the detail in the tomato photo especially. (The tiny little hairs on the tiny little stem!)

  7. Oh, I love the idea of a monthly photos post. If I had any sort of passable camera I’d totally steal the idea. My phone camera is 90% selfies because sometimes I’m too lazy to go to the mirror to see if my eyeliner is smudged. What a life I lead.

I love the closeup of the tomato and the cat picture! And the one with the knees – so clever. The focus on interesting angles is awesome. I did photo camp for 2 years and that’s always what I liked to do. I think it’s really neat to see something from a different perspective than normal.

(Oh, and I love your lipstick in the first picture. That’s a great colour.)

  8. Hooray, hooray! Can’t wait to see more =]

  9. These are all pretty neat. I especially like the picture of someone (you?) writing, and the first one — yowza!

  10. i know someone already said this, but it bears repeating – i absolutely LOVE the tomato shot.

Good choice on your camera. I have its predecessor, the D3100, and love it. With so many bloggers getting into photography, have you considered a virtual scavenger hunt, where a bunch of bloggers respond to a common prompt? You could do different types of photos, like landscape or macro, techniques, like panning or zoom blur, or subjects, like food or animals.

  12. Love how your red lip in the first photo matches your shorts (pants? skirt? underwear?)

I like the reflection and symmetry of the photo with the person writing :)

  13. Never stop using that lipstick because it looks amazing! Also, I lovelovelove the photo with the hand reflection.

  14. These are all incredible! I love how the composition of the first photo resembles a still life painting, and the fifth photo is just genius.

I’ve always admired photography, mainly because it’s a skill I don’t have but wish I did. I love how it’s all about observation–noticing little details that are often passed over and capturing fleeting moments.

  15. Okay I am jealous of these shots. Not going to lie but these are amazing. You must be having so much fun with your new camera. I am the same way — I prefer doing the shot right the first time instead of editing it later on.

  16. Lovely photos!

    BTW, you’re so pretty! :)

I used to be HORRIBLE at photography. It really is so nice to actually understand what you’re doing when it comes to shooting. You’re great at getting the focus in check! I have a Nikon also. :) Used to be downright afraid of it, but I guess we’re friends now. Great job, Cassie!

LOVE your lipstick, by the way.
