  1. Thanks for the blog love, chica =]

And LOVE the article by Hugh Laurie, especially this last part (which, in a sweet turn of events, totally relates to my post!): “But Los Angeles, if it’s anything, is a place of reinvention, the edge of a continent, both inner and outer, from which you can step off into a new life and a new way of looking at things. Or, if you prefer, you can decide that your old life was just fine. Either way, you end up better off.”) Hell yeah.

  2. LA sounds lovely. I’m sure it’s nice just to be there, even without loads of money to spend. The beach looks lovely – I am jealous of the weather!

30 days of jail. That’s ridiculous. I’m sure people get longer for small crimes that don’t harm anyone – usually if a crime involves money you get a longer sentence, which is just disgusting. That’s no time at all for what he did. It sounds like it was a hard topic to write about, so congrats for doing so. It’s a piece that shouldn’t have to be written though – that sentence is ridiculous.

My plans this week involve trying to fit writing in around getting ready for university. Hope you have a fun week!
    xx

    • Gah, it really was a tough subject to write about for the very reason you mentioned. It shouldn’t have to be written. It’s hard to articulate an opinion about something that seems so obviously wrong, and yet…

Good luck getting ready for school!

  3. Hey Cassie — man, I feel you on the “100% refund” sort of thing! Last week, I was contemplating using that option myself, haha. But I stuck it out and I am glad. (Plus, it helps when Buzzfeed sort of reinforces the whole “grad school is about feeling like you want to drop out every other day.” Not sure if you’re there and I definitely don’t feel like that EVERY other day, but sometimes you ask yourself, “Um, what did I get myself into!”) Haha, but I’m glad to hear that you are beginning to adjust to LA (sooooo different than the Midwest) and I’m excited to look at your first piece (along with these other links, too).

Thank you SO much for mentioning the GRAD-itude project! I am so honored and have been smiling like a ridiculous weirdo since seeing the mention and reading your kind words. AHHH! I’m grateful for YOU, Cassie! ;)

    • HAH. Glad to hear I’m not the only one with those thoughts. ;) So far, I’m glad I’m sticking it out, too. I’m waaaay out of my comfort zone, but… that’s kind of the point.

And you are most welcome! Lovin’ the series, lady.

  4. I’m grad school bound in a few months and even though I have two degrees and have done the whole college thing before, it still scares me. I hope it goes as well as I’m anticipating and I don’t completely flunk out.

i wanna know what you’ve been doing on the cheap! :) maybe i need to hang out in diff areas. we keep running into douchey people. someone tried to pick a fight with my husband the other day.

    • Aww man. We’ve had our moments with douchey people too, most definitely. It was disheartening when we first got here and ran into it more than a couple of times… but since then, that’s not been too common. And maybe it’s different for you, but for me, the city is still so new! So simply exploring the neighborhood, checking out Griffith Park, free local festivals, farmers markets—it’s all been a lot of fun, and pretty cheap!

  6. love this list, cassie. thanks for the reading material – very much appreciated on this very slow afternoon :)
