I think the biggest thing for me (besides resting bitch face – the amount of times I’ve told myself to smile whilst just sitting on, say, the bus, in case people think bad things about me – I promise I’m nice, bus companions!) is that I have a joint disorder called Joint Hyper-mobility Syndrome that causes chronic daily pain. It’s something I’ve had for 15 years of my life (I’m 28) yet wasn’t actually diagnosed until last year – mainly because people just never took my complaints seriously enough. I’m lucky in that it’s finally been recognised but it’s too little too late in all honesty. Anyway, I digress – so, no, you wouldn’t know from looking at me that I suffer – but I do, all the time, I just do my best to conceal how much pain I’m in because who wants to hear someone saying ‘owwww, that hurts?’ every 3 seconds? I’d guess no one!
Wow, 15 years without a diagnosis is unbelievable. It must’ve been frustrating when people wouldn’t take you seriously (and I’m guessing it was validating in a way when you were diagnosed). Man, I’m sorry to hear you’re in constant pain—no one should have to go through that. But you certainly have an amazing attitude about it!
And you are too sweet. Red lipstick gives me the confidence I need to ramble coherently in front of a camera.
